Is there a free unlimited mail merge for Gmail?
Updated October 29, 2026
No. Every Gmail mail merge sends through your Gmail account, and Gmail caps that at about 500 emails a day on a free account and 2,000 on Workspace. So “unlimited” is never truly unlimited. Free plans range from 20 a day (YAMM) to 50 (Mailmeteor) and 60 (Mergeline). Apps Script is free up to Gmail’s own limit.
Free plans, highest first
| Tool | Free per day |
|---|---|
| Mergeline | 60 emails |
| Mailmeteor | 50 emails |
| YAMM | 20 recipients |
Checked on each pricing page on October 29, 2026. Free plans tend to shrink over time; YAMM’s went from 50 to 20.
Why “unlimited” plans exist
Some paid tools advertise unlimited sending. GMass says “send unlimited emails” on paid plans, with a footnote that breaking limits depends on your account setup, because it uses SMTP to get past Gmail’s caps. That is a paid route, and it moves you outside Gmail’s normal sending path.
What to do with a big list
Spread it across days. At 60 a day, Mergeline’s free plan covers 300 people in a working week. Pro ($12 a month or $99 a year) sends up to Gmail’s own limit. Beyond that, a newsletter service is the right tool. See mail merge pricing compared.
Watch for the catch
Free plans pay for themselves in other ways. Some add a “sent with” line to your emails. Some add tracking pixels by default. Some keep a copy of your list. Before you choose a free tool for a big list, read its pricing and privacy pages. Mergeline’s free plan adds no branding and no pixels, and your list stays in your browser.
Ask what you really need
Most people asking for unlimited actually send a few hundred emails a month. At that size, a good free plan or a low-cost one covers it, without any tricks around Gmail’s limits, and with a lot less risk to your account.
