Can I cold email from a Google Workspace account without getting banned?

Updated October 29, 2026

Short answer

Yes, if you keep volume modest, warm up new accounts, use clean lists and stop at the first sign of trouble. Workspace allows 2,000 emails a day, but new accounts start lower and cold email draws more complaints. Many senders use a separate domain for outreach so a problem never touches their main email. Keep spam reports under Google’s 0.3% line.

Before the first campaign

  1. Set up SPF and DKIM, and ideally DMARC, for the domain.
  2. Consider a second domain for outreach, so your main inbox is never at risk.
  3. Use the account normally for a week or two.
  4. Verify your list. Remove role addresses and anything that looks guessed.

Signs to stop and look

Reddit threads from Workspace users who lost accounts mid-campaign tend to share the same story: a new domain, a big list, full speed from day one.

How Mergeline helps

Mergeline’s slow start, random gaps, sending hours by time zone and bounce pause cover most of this list. A TimeZone column lets each person get the email in their own working hours. Follow-ups (Pro) stop on reply. See can a mail merge get you suspended.

Keep your main inbox out of it

A separate outreach domain keeps a problem from reaching invoices, contracts and client threads on your main address. Point replies to a person who will answer them quickly.

One more habit

Read every reply within a day, even the angry ones. A quick, polite answer and a promise not to write again keeps a frustrated person from pressing the spam button.
