What is the main difference between Mergeline and Mailmeteor?

Mailmeteor is a family of tools around one online account: a Google Sheets add-on, a Chrome extension, a web dashboard and an Outlook version2. Your recipients, events and templates are stored in that account4.

Mergeline is one Chrome extension with no account. Everything it knows about your campaigns sits in your browser, and it sends through your Gmail tab. That makes it simpler and more private, but it also means no shared team dashboard and no Outlook.

How much do Mergeline and Mailmeteor cost per year?

Mailmeteor’s yearly prices per user are $5.99 a month for Starter ($71.88 a year), $17.99 for Premium ($215.88) and $35.99 for Professional ($431.88)2. Monthly billing prices were not published on the pricing view we read.

Follow-ups start on Premium, with 5, and Professional has 102. Mergeline Pro includes up to 7 for $99 a year or $12 a month. If you never need follow-ups, Mailmeteor Starter is cheaper than Mergeline Pro.

Which one is more private?

Mailmeteor’s privacy documentation says it stores recipient email addresses and merge fields for 180 days, open, click and reply events for 90 days, and template content with attachments, plus contacts, with no set limit3. It asks for full Sheets access, sending on your behalf and an external Firebase service, with more scopes for follow-ups3.

Mergeline stores your lists, emails, results and do-not-email list in your browser’s extension storage. In its default mode it asks for no Google account permissions: it fills Gmail’s own compose window in your Gmail tab. If you choose Google sign-in instead, it asks for gmail.send, which Google classes as sensitive rather than restricted, and for gmail.readonly only if you turn on reply detection5. That data is used in your browser and never sent to a Mergeline server. The full breakdown is on our security page.
