What is the Gmail mail merge daily limit?
Updated October 29, 2026
Gmail’s built-in mail merge can send to up to 1,500 recipients a day. That comes out of the normal Workspace limit of 2,000 messages a day, and Google keeps the last 500 for your regular email. Third-party tools also send through your account, so they face the same Gmail ceiling: 2,000 on Workspace and 500 on a free account.
How the 1,500 works
Picture your 2,000 daily emails as one bucket. Mail merge may use up to 1,500. The other 500 stay free so you can still answer clients and colleagues on a heavy sending day. A single merge can include up to 1,500 people in To.
What other tools allow
| Tool | Daily cap on its plans |
|---|---|
| Gmail built-in | 1,500 mail merge recipients |
| YAMM Pro for Workspace | 1,500 recipients |
| Mailmeteor | Up to 2,000 on its top plan |
| Streak paid plans | 1,500 mail merge |
| Mergeline Pro | Up to Gmail’s own limit, with your own cap |
No tool can raise Gmail’s own limit for your account. Some, like GMass, offer a separate SMTP route to go past it, which their own page says depends on your account setup.
Plan for the real number
Sending the maximum every day is risky, especially from a new account. A safer plan for 3,000 people is 300 to 500 a day over a week, with replies handled as they come in. Mergeline spreads a campaign across days on its own once the daily cap is reached.
If you are on a free account
The 1,500 figure is for Workspace. A free Gmail account has no built-in mail merge, and any tool you use there stops at Gmail’s 500 a day. Mergeline’s free plan sends 60 a day; Pro goes up to Gmail’s own limit with a cap you choose.
Count every person
The 1,500 counts recipients, not campaigns. Three merges of 500 people each use the full allowance for the day, even if each one feels small on its own.
